Who it's for
The couple, or the person doing the table styling. Small, quick, and the one wedding piece you can make several of.
Which book to use
Small hardbacks, matched if you're making a set. Because they sit on tables rather than shelves, height matters more than thickness — pick books that clear the glassware or sit well below it.
Where it ends up
Table centrepieces, or one per table with the table number folded into a second book. Works at eye level when seated, which is lower than you'd instinctively place it.
How long it takes
An afternoon each. Making six for six tables is a weekend, and worth batching rather than doing one at a time.
What I DO does under the folds
The I is a single narrow column and the space eats the middle, so this reads as two separate marks rather than a word unless you keep the book on the wide side.
Every sheet of a folded book shows exactly one band, so a letter is only as detailed as the number of pages behind it. At 200 pages, I DO gets roughly 33 sheets per letter. If your book is thinner than that, the Book Fit Check above will say so — and offer splitting the word across two books, which is often the better answer. See choosing the right book for how to check page count before you buy.
How many pages do I need to fold I DO?
About 200 pages. I DO is 3 letters, and each letter needs roughly 60 pages — about 30 folded sheets — to stay crisp. You can go as low as 150, but at that thickness the strokes start merging into each other.
